After a long day, we finally ended our night in a cafe, where we brainstormed various important aspects of the tasks we must accomplish while in India. Beginning tomorrow, we are planning to travel to many secondary schools with a common background as our initiative. We gathered a comprehensive list of issues to address while visiting each school, and hope this will raise our personal awareness of certain project aspects which we have yet to completely comprehend. We also believe the best method to assessing needs of our future school is to obtain a private school experience (to some extent) while in India. We will not only interview school administration, but also shadow elementary and secondary school students in different schools. We hope this will give us insight into the most effective teaching methods, valuable added courses to the set state curriculum, and a chance to improve our sustainability model.

It’s been a while since this blog has been updated. I think you all should know what’s been going on with the project! First of all, five of us are traveling to India this summer to work on the project and to break ground with construction. We are all extremely excited for the upcoming trip, and have been working on details of the itinerary for the past few weeks. I also wanted you all to stay updated on the trip as we are traveling in India, so one of the five of us will be blogging about it whenever we receive Internet connection…just a caveat: it’s going to be sporadic! One exciting aspect of the trip is that we are currently working on implementing a Clean Water System which can accommodate upto 12,000 people when we get to the village! I’ll let you know how that works out.

The Sanjeevani Project Board

1) We obtained a PLOT! It is about ten acres, and is located on the roadside, along the Bombay-Madras Highway, just outside of the village. The students will have no issue walking to the school.

2) We FINALLY came up with a name for the project. Since the school is to be named after Abhita’s father: Sanjeeva T. Reddy, the name of the project is called: The Sanjeevani Project. The word “Sanjeevani” means “One that infuses life”.

3) We had our first Board Meeting yesterday, and are now ready to start hosting individual committee meetings. If you are interested, you must email the committee chair! The following is a list of the chairs and their email addresses:
